After 35 years of dedicating his life to the practice of healing, Dr. Eric Strom, a 62 year old physician, was diagnosed in 2002 with lymphoma. Between 2005 and 2007, progression of his disease necessitated treatment with several courses of chemotherapy. During this time period, Dr. Strom continued to care for his patients in a compassionate manner. He eventually failed to respond to chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant was his only alternative. Left with this only option for a cure, Eric was supported by his devoted wife and soul mate Eileen, loving family, wonderful friends and the desire to walk his daughter Julie down the aisle for her upcoming wedding. The search began to look for Eric's "marrow miracle."

Fortunately, a search in the bone marrow registry located a potential donor who was considered to be a perfect match. Eric’s european heritage greatly enhanced his odds of finding a perfect match, unlike recipients of mixed heritage or other ethnic groups with low representation in the registry.

On May 8, 2008, Eric had a perfectly matched bone marrow transplant. The procedure and subsequent hospitalization went smoothly and on October 25, 2008, Eric happily celebrated his daughter Julie’s wedding event. Now one year post transplant, Eric is in full remission, has resumed all of his previous activities and is committed to helping others with similar needs.
